What Is Nature Therapy?

Nature Therapy (also known as ecotherapy or nature-based therapy) brings counselling into relationship with the natural environment. Sessions may take place face-to-face around the Fleurieu Peninsula or online while you participate from your own suitable natural setting. The location, pace and level of activity are agreed together, with privacy, accessibility, comfort and safety considered throughout.

How It Works

Face-to-face

Meet in an agreed natural setting around the Fleurieu Peninsula — for example, a coastal walk, a quiet park or a seated natural setting. Louise will discuss the location, privacy, accessibility, pace and a backup plan with you in advance.

Online

Where appropriate, you may join an online session from a natural environment that feels suitable, private and practical for you. The setting is discussed in advance so connection, comfort and safety can be considered.

Sessions may incorporate CBT, narrative therapy, art therapy and somatic movement. What is included is explored together and shaped around what feels useful and comfortable for you.

What to Expect

Sessions may include guided activities that support self-awareness, reflection, noticing patterns and personal growth. You remain in control of the pace, level of activity, location and what you feel comfortable trying. Consent is ongoing, and there is always room to pause, change direction or choose a different way of working.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. Nature Therapy meets you where you are — you can sit, stroll at your own pace, or simply be present in a natural setting. There is no expectation to walk or be active.

As the work progresses, less-than-perfect weather may sometimes become part of the experience if that feels potentially useful. Louise will discuss this with you in advance and consider your readiness, comfort and ongoing consent. Physical safety comes first: conditions must remain appropriate, nobody is expected to stay outdoors when they are unsafe or unsuitable, and a backup plan will always be available.
